For Ross's birthday, he decided that he wanted to go to Myrtle Beach. Even though we live only a couple of hours away, he had never been and I had only gone once. We thought this would be a great time to enjoy the beach. We decided to stay in Surfside Beach, which is about 15 minutes south of Myrtle Beach. It was nice to be in a quieter, slower paced town.

This was our view from our balcony our first morning. I could get used to waking up to that view every day!
I like how our resort had its own pier. We were allowed to go on there free of charge. It was so beautiful and the beach was really nice and clean as well. I know some of the busier beaches have kind of dirty sand just from all of the people always there. There were seashells everywhere at this beach and we had a great time just walking around and exploring! We even found a jellyfish on the shore. I felt bad for the little guy, but it was really neat to see one up close and personal. I had never experienced something like that before.

On Ross's birthday, we went to Broadway on the Beach and did some mini-golf! We don't have any courses near us, so this was something fun to do together. The weather was absolutely perfect to be outside! We went to the Dragon's Lair which had a dragon course as well as a viking course. They were both a lot of fun.

I'm definitely not very good at mini-golfing, but it was so nice to have fun and relax. I had fun trying to beat Ross, even though I was pretty sure that wouldn't happen right from the beginning. I'm not exactly what you would call sportsy.

We continued our touristy adventures and went to the Pirates Voyage dinner and theater that night. Think Medieval Times with pirates and that's exactly what it is. It was definitely an experience and they had some really amazing tricks. The people that work there are definitely talented.
The food was great too! They gave us literally half a chicken each, pulled pork, soup, potatoes, corn on the cob, and apple pie. I was stuffed! At the end of the night I am pretty sure I was waddling to the car.

The next day we checked out Ripley's Aquarium. I'm not very fond of sea creatures (don't even get me started on my irrational fear), but this was definitely a highlight of the trip. Even though it's pretty small because of South Carolina laws regarding mammals at aquariums, we still spent a good couple of hours walking around and taking it all in.
They had some really gorgeous fish and were displayed wonderfully. They even had a "shark tunnel" where you walk through the display and the ceiling above you is glass. I was pretty freaked out, not going to lie, when the sharks came swimming over me.

My absolute favorite thing at the aquarium was Planet Jellies. I think Jellyfish are so adorable! They had several different kinds on display, and my favorite part, there was a station where you were allowed to touch them! They were Moon Jellyfish, so even if you got stung, they said you would only feel a slight tickling feeling. They were so cool feeling! You know those jelly, water filled ring toys that had the little plastic creatures floating inside and you would get your fingers stuck in? That's what a Jellyfish feels like. I loved it so much, I made Ross go back for a second time!
There are some of the highlights from our weekend away in Myrtle Beach, and we had such a great time together. Even little trips close to home really make you feel refreshed!
Have you ever been to Myrtle Beach? If so, what are your some of your favorite things to do there?
