Easter in Kansas

Growing up, when I thought of Kansas, I thought of tornadoes, red slippers, and Toto. Now that I'm older, I think of my sister. Even though Reba has lived in Kansas for over a year now, I still hadn't been to visit. Well, this Easter we fixed that. I am so glad that I was able to go and see my sister and learn more about Kansas.

McPherson

There is a super cute little town in Kansas called McPherson. It may not seem like much as you go by, but when you walk around and poke your head into all the cute little stores, you may find some really exciting discoveries. One gem is this restaurant in the photo below. It's called Courtyard on Main and is simply the most adorable place to dine. From the outside you may think of it as a really fancy restaurant, but they actually serve things such as salads and sandwiches. It has a very different feel because of this. The inside feels like you should dress for dinner, while your delicious Reuben sandwich says to relax and enjoy.

Craft Coffee Parlor really impressed me. I would've thought that a small town in Kansas would've just had a hole in the wall for a cup of Joe, but this place was fantastic! The interior of the cafe looks very industrial, yet inviting. They even had fresh flowers at the tables! I got an iced latte with hazelnut syrup, and it was so good; I should've gotten a larger size. If you are ever in McPherson, GO TO CRAFT COFFEE!

Shopping & Easter Egg Coloring

Whenever my sister and I are together, the reunion is not complete without a shopping trip. We made the drive to Wichita and checked out the Bradley Fair shopping center. They have a lot of the stores that I don't get to go to a lot such as Banana Republic, Lot, Gap, and Francesca's. I had so much fun just being with my sister, and I actually didn't buy much! (This is quite shocking)

We stopped at Bella Luna Cafe for lunch, where we both satisfied our pasta needs. Reba got the Pasta Carbonara, and I got the Pasta Diablo. Both were amazing and the leftovers we took home tasted even better the next day!

Easter is not Easter without coloring eggs and having stained fingers. Although it was just the two of us, we still decorated and had so much fun bringing out our inner child. Some turned out better than others, and I don't think we'll be entering any of the designs in competitions, but it was something fun to do together.

Easter Sunday

Another Easter tradition that will never die is to dress up. I got up way earlier than I could have, and even curled my hair (If you know me at all, you know that this is a big deal).

My Easter outfit

Dress: Kohl's clearance for about $6!

Shoes: Shoe Department

Bag: Forever 21 (My bag is actually my carry-on, and I just used it as my purse while I was in Kansas. If you haven't read my post all about what I put in this bag for airplane flights, check it out here)

Reba's Easter Outfit

Blazer: Kohls

Clutch: Kohl's

Wichita Old Town

Before my flight on Monday, we decided to go check out Old Town. We figured that it would be better to go on an adventure instead of crying at home and finding comfort in watching Friends for 4 hours.

We ended up mostly wandering around, but the town was very pretty and had a couple cute boutiques. I have to give a shoutout to a store called Lucinda's where I found the CUTEST Manatee Tea Infuser. It's called the Manatea (Get it?).

We also stopped for lunch in Old Town. Reba had heard good things about the Pumphouse, and boy, were they right! I got a Margarita pizza with a pesto sauce, and it was SO AMAZING. I couldn't eat it all, so I had to send the leftovers back with Reba and I regret not shoving more into my mouth when I had the chance. My tastebuds would've been grateful, if not my stomach. Just looking at this picture is making my mouth water. I wonder if they deliver to South Carolina...

Anyway, those are some of the highlights from my trip to Kansas! I'm so glad that I got to see my favorite sister (she's my only one guys, don't freak out), and spend Easter together. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

What did you guys do for Easter? Have you traveled anywhere recently? Let me know in the comments!
