Vinyl is making a comeback, and I like so many others have joined the craze. Thrift stores are bursting at the seams with old records, and the task of sorting through them may seem daunting. In my searches for records I have come across everything from old stand-up comedy and Mennonite men's church choirs. However, quality is better than quantity, and culture has blessed us with some classics that can make any record stash look sufficient.

Here are a few records that, in my humble opinion, should be included in your growing vinyl collection.
1. The Beatles

As much as I love Abbey Road, it's a rare and rather expensive album. I found this album that had a few lesser-known treasures such as "Hold on Me" that is worthy your listening time. Deep cuts are often a good idea.
2. The Bee Gees

"Staying Alive" isn't their only hit. Some of their ballads are quite folksy and catchy. Either way, these musicians are a classic group that a true collection cannot do without.
3. Elton John

Elton John may be a special snowflake, but his music is brilliant, and the vinyl captures the sound of his talent like nothing else. This album has proved itself an enjoyable listen.
4. Coldplay (The token contemporary)

Coldplay, personally one of my favorite bands, has a style that is stunningly captured by vinyl. This first album especially carries a classic rock atmosphere in certain songs that proves this record should be on your shelf.
5. John Lennon

It's John Lennon. Enough said. This album will keep you dancing the night away.
6. Seal and Croft

Surprisingly, these hippies can be a delight, and their "Summer Breeze" will indeed prove to be fine.
7. Billy Joel

52nd Street will make you realize you can't get enough of Billy Joel. This is a fantastic album by an iconic artist who should always be in a vinyl collection.
8. Johnny Cash

Although Jonny Cash is not my favorite, he's too Johnny-Cash to ignore. One of the records that helped changed the direction of music is a must-have.
9. Bing Crosby's Christmas Album

Christmas is not complete without Bing's dulcet tones recorded on the scratchy sweetness of vinyl.
Honorable Mention
1. Anything by She and Him. They are flawless.
2. Mumford and Sons' Babel. Tight acoustic harmony in record form is pure ear candy.
3. Nat King Cole's bluesy jazz is perfect background music from party to washing dishes
What are some of your must-haves?
