My Lush Addiction

I'm in love.

While getting my daily dose of YouTube videos one day, I heard about a store called Lush. I was intrigued. Turns out it is a company that makes totally fresh, organic beauty products. They're probably mostly known for their amazing bath bombs (You know, people keep taking pictures of their baths and they're all swirly and colorful like a rainbow just melted in it).

Their bath bombs are just the beginning.

Lush sells cosmetics, lotions, soaps, deoderant, and more! I think that I could just live in the store and be completely happy. It's gotten to the point where Ross says "NO" before I even ask to go in.

This wonderful company not only has fresh, organic prodcts, but they also fight animal testing and think of every single way possible to be green friendly. They use as little as packaging as possible and when you do buy online, your goodies come packed in biodegradable filler.

I cannot say enough for this company and how much I love their products. I have decided that not to be selfish and keep them to myself but to share a few of my absolute favorite products with you.

This product has to come in 1st place because it is the one that I use every day, rain or shine. This was also the product that took the most courage to try. I'm sure I could write a whole post on just this deoderant, but I'm sure you have better things to do than study my deoderant.

My mom can be pretty health conscientious. This is a good thing. But she can also be paranoid.

I remember one day she saw an article about how the aluminum in our deoderant was going to give us all breast cancer. Immediately, we discovered this strange looking deoderant in our bathroom cupboard. It was hard and clear and didn't have any smell. When you applied the deoderant, it felt like you were rubbing a rock on your pits. It did nothing. Oh, and did I mention that I was in Junior High at the time? This was not a good time in my life to be experimenting with body odor.

After a few months, we finally persuaded my mother that this deoederant wasn't helping, and we swtiched back to handy old Degree. Ever since then, whenever I hear anyone talk about using natural deoderant, I cringe. How can you think it's working?

As I got older, the more and more I read about deoderant and all the nasty stuff they put in it, I felt the paranoia setting in. I finally decided to try something. I saw that Lush had a few different kinds so the next time I was in the store, I asked one of the workers to help me.

She recommended this aramaco deoderant to me as the best one when making the switch to natural deoderant. There are only 3 ingredients! Astringent witch hazel, baking soda to absorb any moisture and BO, and patchouli oil to keep you smelling good and fresh.

Turns out patchouli oil (besides being the smell of the hippies) is actually like a miracle oil. It can be used to heal problems such as acne, eczema, irritation, and dry skin. It's also often found in anti-aging products because it rejuvenates cells and can reduce scars. As if that wasn't enough, patchouli oil is also great for athletes foot and preventing dandruff.

Not only do the ingredients of patchouli oil seem to bear the elixar of life, but the aroma is also very therapeutic. It's been shown to be helpful to reduce stress, insomnia, and anxiety.

Need I go on? This stuff is amazing.

This is another amazing product. I get very dry hands during the winter which causes my cuticles to crack and peel. Not attractive, I know. While I was in a very long line and fighting off a panic attack during the Christmas rush, a salesperson handed this sample to me to say sorry for the long line.

SCORE!

I love free stuff. Who doesn't? I was really excited to try this cuticle butter, and can I just say that Lush knows what they're doing? I saw a difference overnight! My fingers no longer look like they got caught in a shredder, but are glowing and soft.

The fresh lemon in the butter helps brighten the skin and lighten your nails to make them look healthier. There is also beeswax and avacado oil in this little jar of magic to moisturize and soften your skin.

It also smells like heaven, so what's not to love?

I absolutely love this lip scrub! I can not stand it when you put a lipstick on, especially a liquid lipstick, and it gets stuck in all of your lines and looks like your lips are the Rocky Mountains. Exfoliating my lips is such an important step for me before I go in with any lipstick. It leaves your lips looking so much better, and you feel more confident! I know a lot of people who like to use just straight sugar. While this definitely does the job, I love using Lush's lip scrub because its a combination of sea salt and sugar to scrub away all the not-so-cute dead skin, and it also includes jojoba and coconut oil to keep your lips hydrated and to restore them. There is nothing worse than wearing a drying lipstick all day and then finding out you have old man lips the next day. Not cute.

Not only does it work well, but it smells and tastes amazing! Obviously you should've be TRYING to eat your lip scrub, but let's be honest, it's kind of hard to avoid getting some in your mouth. It's great to know that when that does happen, it isn't something that will leave you gagging. And because Lush uses all natural, fresh ingredients, you don't have to worry about consuming some nasty chemicals!

4. Bath Bombs

Lush is probably most commonly known for their bath bombs, as they should be. They're amazing! After a long day when you're tired and maybe stressed, I love a good bath. It's even more fun when you can pick a bath bomb that smells amazing and explodes into a art work! I love popping one in, lighting a candle, and playing some music to reach pure bliss. The bombs pictured above are what I have currently in my collection, and a couple are Christmas ones from the BOGO sale. (Watch out for this sale right after Christmas!) The bath bombs pictured are listed below:

  • Lord of Misrule (Seasonal) - This is the green bath bomb with the purple specks. Inside, it has a purple core and looks so amazing in the bath! It has a very earthy smell, with lots of herbs, patchouli oil, peppers, and some oil thrown in. One warning I feel like I should throw out there is that it does leave your bathwater a greenish-brown color once it's all mixed up. So if that might make you a little grossed out, consider yourself warned. But of course, if you just add a ton of bubbles, you'll never know!

  • Butterball - The white bath bomb is one of my absolute favorites. While it's not colorful and flashy like some of the others, it makes for the most moisturizing bath you've ever taken because of the chunks of cocoa butter inside. When you're soaking in a tub for a while, especially in the winter, it can really dry out your skin. This isn't a problem with the Butterball! At Christmastime they even have a cute little version of it shaped in a bear. It also smells of vanilla, so you really can't go wrong this one!

  • Dashing Santa (Seasonal) -Dashing Santa is such a cute bath bomb because of its shape and coloring. It leaves your bath a nice orange color and has just a little bit of sparkle. In the online descriptions, it states that it has a citrus smell which would make sense with mandarin oil and orange absolute. I'm not a huge fan of citrus, so I was a littl hesitant. People were saying in the comments and reviews though, that it's not a strong citrus smell. I went ahead and bought two, and I'm so glad that I did! It has a hint of citrus, but it's also very sweet and smells absolutely delicious!

You may notice in the picture that some of my bath bombs are cut in half. I like to do this to make them last longer, and I haven't noticed any differnece in how they dissolve. I also feel like I can justify spending $3-4 on a bath versus $7-9.

Lush's bubble bars are amazing as well. Bubbles really do just make a bath, and the Big Bang bubble bar does its job! Its main ingredients are avacado butter, grapefruit oil, and lemon myrtle oil. The combination leaves you soft, refreshed, and revived! It does have some glitter in it in case you're not into that. The first time I noticed after my bath that I was covered in shimmer, I freaked out a little! I did not want to go to work the next day looking like a unicorn. But the next day there was no trace of glitter.

These bubble bars are easy to use multiple times as well! Just break it up into pieces and then crumble under your faucet, or you can even just hold under the water until you get the amount of bubbles desired and let the rest of the bar dry out on a dish. Lush bath products make wonderful air fresheners!

I hope you have enjoyed reading about some of my favorite Lush products, and I hope you give some of them a try! If you're familiar with Lush and love it as much as I do, what are some of your favorites?
